I’m thinking about a youtube collab. Okay, here’s this post on System Expectations. I have a number of pet peeves, I expect the software to be fully featured and fast, not sparse/lightweight or slow for inexplicable reasons.

From start to finish:

  • wget the compiler
    • sometimes I’m in TAILS and it doesn’t have a compiler
  • ubiquity
    • 10/10 the best installer ever.
    • start with a full system, start ubiquity inside that
    • live systems FTW
  • grub
    • lilo didn’t look pretty enough
    • please give us a gui to edit it :3
  • lightdm
    • gdm is unstylized
    • mdm breaks a lot so I stick with lightdm?
    • lets you log into multiple desktops neatly
  • cinnamon
    • xfce always gives me a bad experience
    • kde/mate are butt ugly and unfeatured
    • unity is slow for NO REASON
  • nemo
    • nautilus on ubuntu is underfeatured
    • nemo has nice defaults
    • fedora’s nautilus is nice
  • usbcreator
    • linux mint’s USB creator frontend
  • TARDIS/Gallifrey script
    • ubuntu, debian, mint, cinnamon, whonix, tails, etc
    • fedora
    • openSUSE
    • arch
    • gentoo
  • Oliver/github/DO management
    • issue tracking is spot on
    • no annoying seperations like in launchpad
    • track lots of things at once

I’m probably more opinionated than this, I just don’t know.
